On the date, May 28, 2019, Air India flight AI 130, boeing 777–300 was scheduled to fly from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (BOM). The passengers reached the airport to take this flight, least did they know that they will be stuck in London for the next two days.

Their flight was scheduled to depart from London airport at 1:15 PM but was grounded due to an oil leak. They were therefore accommodated in a nearby hotel and were informed that this flight will take off the next day.

The passengers stayed at the airport till 7 PM before they got the message that the flight was cancelled. That’s when they started reaching out to Instalocatefor help. We immediately created a group of these passengers and kept them informed on a real-time basis.

The next day May 29, 2019, these passengers were brought back to the airport. They were informed that they would be flying out at 10 PM. The bus picked them up from the hotel and they completed the entire process of customs and immigration. Just when they thought they were about to board the flight, they were told that the technical issue was still not rectified.

It was close to midnight and all the passengers were tired and exhausted. Some of were travelling with kids, some were with old parents and they wanted to reach home as soon as possible. They tried to express their anger but were shut down by the police and sent back to the hotel.

At all points, we at Instalocate left no stone unturned to keep them informed about their rights. In this atmosphere of distress, people were still trying to lighten the mood-one person on the group joked that walking to India would be faster ‘probably’.

The next day May 30, 2019, they finally take off at 1.15 PM and they brought back to Mumbai. Their 48 hours ordeal has come to an end but there is another fight that would start for them — compensation under EU regulations EC261/04.

All these passengers should get compensation of Euros 600 (INR 46,000 ) for all the inconvenience Air India had put them through. We at Instalocate are helping the passengers with their compensation. If you want to start your claim, visit www.instalocate.com or WhatsApp at wa.me/918448200312.
